ABOUT US

The story around the establishment of Maphindi's is humorous, and inspiring at the same time! Out of sheer frustration of the pressures and demands of a full time job and a boss to go with it, Patrick Nongalaza decided to call it quits and leave his 8-5 job. With not much money in the bank, a wife and family to feed, he set off to start a business. With determination and faith on his side, Patrick Nongalaza planted the seeds of the business you see today.

As is if to prove the obvious ("behind every successful man, lies a woman"), Patrick affectionately named the business after his wife, Phindiwe, whose nickname is Maphindi. Not stopping at that, Patrick asked Maphindi to join him in the business and they have, through an unwavering partnership, been the makers and the driving force of the brand Maphindi.

Maphindi's was initially established as a grocery store in 1989. In 2005 the business was expanded and a butchery store was opened adjacent to the grocery store. Soon after a second butchery store was opened. With the success of the butcheries, greater business aspirations and a new vision, the grocery store was demolished and a new building was constructed.

This new building now houses the conference centre with roof top mezzanine area, restaurant and a bulk meat store.

After that mouthful, we're proud to say we're making our history and you are ready to eat meat!!
